Melbourne, 23rd October 2024 - Delta, a global leader in power management and provider of IoT-based smart green solutions, has today provided a glimpse of a more sustainable future; unveiling a slew of new innovations at the All Energy expo, including Delta’s new LFP (lithium ferrous phosphate) battery container, All in One (AiO) Energy Storage System and an exciting prototype of the company’s Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) hydrogen technology.
Delta'sLFP battery container is designed for grid-scale and medium to large-scale industrial energy storage applications. Built on a standard 10-ft (3m) shipping container with compact design and simple installation procedure, the battery system can be rapidly deployed. The LFP battery container offers high energy density, with scalability from 708 kWh to 7.78 MWh. This flexibility allows it to accommodate varying spatial and capacity requirements for different sites, optimising land utilisation.
Delta's AiO Box, or All-in-One Energy Storage System, with a capacity of 125 kW /279 kWh, is an energy storage system that seamlessly integrates a power conditioning system (PCS), advanced battery system with a built-in battery management system (BMS) and cooling system into a compact, all-in-one solution. Designed for superior power efficiency and space optimisation, the AiO Box features liquid-cooled battery modules that maintain optimal temperature uniformity, enhancing performance and extending battery life, while its robust construction allows it to withstand harsh environmental conditions. This versatile system is scalable and suitable for various configurations, including grid-tied and off-grid scenarios such as power backup, peak shaving, load shifting, PV self-consumption, and PV smoothing.
Delta’s SOFC/SOEC hydrogen technology, making its debut at All Energy, gives attendees a look at the company’s intent to be a leader in hydrogen energy. Delta's integrated energy solution combines a Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC) for hydrogen production with a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) for power generation. This versatile system provides agile power control and fuel flexibility, making it ideal for powering vehicles, industrial operations, data centers, and microgrids. The hydrogen technology comes as Delta begins its collaboration with UK-listed Ceres Power Limited, utilising its hydrogen stack technology portfolio to continue hydrogen tech R&D.
As part of its display at All Energy, Delta has also revealed its production timeframe for its new hydrogen tech – currently in the development stage. The company intends to launch the first production-ready units of its SOEC and SOFC technology in 2026, before looking at expanding its utility and commercial applications in the years that follow.
Delta Electronics Thailand COO, Mr Chang Tsai-hsing, in attendance at All Energy, shared further details about the company’s research and development of hydrogen tech.
“As the global market has shown, there is likely to be multiple paths in achieving more sustainable cities and transport, with hydrogen energy emerging as one of those paths,” Mr Tsai-hsing explained.
“Delta’s SOFC prototype points towards our future as a leading producer of hydrogen energy, storage and refuelling technology in the region. As a critical manufacturing hub and a strong partner of Australia’s, we believe that Thailand has a huge part to play in developing critical future technologies that not only serve Asia Pacific, but around the world,” he continued.
Delta Australia Country Manager, Tom Hew, believes that this year’s All Energy expo is the perfect opportunity to give Australians a glimpse of what to expect from the leading sustainable business in the coming years.
“Australia’s tech and energy sector shows no signs of slowing down, and at Delta Electronics Australia, we see it as our mission to drive innovation within the APAC region, while maintaining a strong focus on the long-term sustainability of our own business methods and products as part of a global team,” Mr. Hew said.
Delta’s environmental credentials speak for themselves: recognised globally as one of the world’s most sustainable companies listing on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for 13 consecutive years and ranked among the top 1% in the S&P Global ESG Score in Electronic Equipment, Instruments and Components. As a local subsidiary, Delta Australia powers its operation on 100 per cent renewable energy.
Long a key provider of EV charging and componentry, with the company recently confirming that it had already sold over 3,000,000 electric vehicle chargers globally, Delta development of battery and hydrogen-based energy storage solutions continues its legacy of innovation in sustainability under its ethos of being ‘Smarter. Greener. Together.’
