Bangkok, Thailand – November 25, 2024 — Delta Electronics Thailand announces the launch of Delta Cup 2024, an initiative aimed at fostering innovation, hands-on learning, and sustainable development among Thailand’s young engineering talents. The event takes place on November 23, 2024, at the Conference Hall in Delta Thailand Plant 8.
Mr. Victor Cheng, CEO of Delta Electronics Thailand, inaugurated the event, extending a warm welcome to participants and academic partners. In his opening remarks, he stated, “At Delta, we believe in the transformative power of innovation and education. Through the Delta Cup, we aim to inspire creativity, nurture innovation, and align with Thailand’s transition to a more digital and innovative economy.” This vision comes to life through the Delta Cup, which provides a dynamic platform for young talent to shine.
The winning teams of the Delta Cup 2024 were celebrated for their innovative and impactful projects.
The Mod-Som Team from the Department of Electrical Engineering at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) achieved the highest score in the Delta Cup 2024. Their innovative project, a wireless EV charging system designed to operate seamlessly without the effects of misalignment, earned them an Excellence Prize worth 30,000 THB.
The G.29 Team from the Department of Electrical Engineering at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) earned the second-highest score in the Delta Cup 2024. Their project, focused on smart electric vehicle supply equipment, won them an Excellence Prize worth 30,000 THB.
The Parking Jam Team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kasetsart University (KU) achieved the third-highest score in the Delta Cup 2024. Their project, the Parking Jam Rotary Parking system, secured them an Excellence Prize worth 30,000 THB.
The Delta Cup 2024 represents a pivotal initiative in Delta’s mission to nurture young talent and foster meaningful partnerships between academia and industry. By challenging students to develop practical solutions aligned with global trends and Thailand’s development goals, the competition bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Through hands-on projects and collaborative efforts, it enhances academic collaboration while promoting sustainable solutions tailored to industry demands. These initiatives address the growing need for skilled, innovation-driven engineers in Thailand’s expanding industrial automation sector.
This year there are seven universities participating which are King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Kasetsart University, Burapha University, Mahidol University and Chulalongkorn University, the event provides a platform for students to showcase their skills and creativity in a competitive yet supportive environment, the event saw enthusiastic participation from 74 students across 22 teams. The enthusiasm of the participants highlights the importance of such platforms in shaping future innovators.
The competition consists of four intense rounds, split between morning and afternoon sessions. Each team has 10 minutes to present their projects—five minutes for pitching their ideas and five minutes for a Q&A session with the judging panel. The event will award prizes to the top three teams, with each team receiving 30,000 Baht, while the remaining teams will receive 10,000 Baht per team. The purpose of the prize is to help teams develop their projects further and collaborate with us to create a real implementation for next year's Delta Cup.
