Chang Gung University partners with Delta Electronics and prestigious Thai universities in a three-way collaboration to train international master's degree talents

Bangkok, Thailand, August 30, 2024 - Twenty-five senior students from Chiang Mai University and King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in Thailand will begin their two-year 3+2 dual degree master's program at Chang Gung University starting from year 2024. This program, supported by Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL., a subsidiary of Delta Electronics, offers 20 scholarships, along with opportunities for corporate summer internships and employment. On August 26th, Chang Gung University President Tang Ming-Che led the professors and faculty members from the College of Engineering in hosting an opening ceremony for these Thai students. The university is not only providing a fully English-speaking learning and research environment but also offering substantial support for international students in their daily lives.

The Office of International Affairs stated that the 3+2 dual degree program allows students to first spend three years at their home university to earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by two years at the partner university to pursue a master’s degree. In just five years, students can obtain a bachelor’s degree from their home university and a master’s degree from the partner university. This time, 20 students have received two-year scholarships from Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL., and after completing their master’s degrees, they will return to work at Delta in Thailand, transitioning directly from graduation to employment. The remaining five students received tuition waivers from Chang Gung University, contributing to Taiwan’s efforts in nurturing high-level international technology talent.

President Tang Ming-Che stated that “Taiwan is a "technology island" with many high-tech industries, possessing advanced technologies in semiconductors, electrical engineering, and electronics, along with the most specialized academic departments and programs. Through the collaboration between Chang Gung University, Delta Electronics, and two renowned universities in Thailand, students will receive the best education and degrees in their respective fields. President Tang also encouraged the students to seize the opportunity to learn Chinese and interact more with Taiwanese students to better understand the local culture, which will be beneficial for their future careers at Delta.”

Mr. Huang Chin-hao, Chief Human Resources Officer of Delta Electronics (Thailand), emphasized “Delta plays a pivotal role in Thailand's high-tech industry. Whether it is the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and high technology development department, Delta maintains close interactions and various forms of collaboration, such as high-tech talent internships, incubation programs, and bachelor’s and master’s technology projects. Through this industry-academia collaboration, supported by Chang Gung University's outstanding academic research and practical teaching methods, we hope that these 20 Thai students, after completing their studies and research in electrical engineering and related fields at Chang Gung University, will join Delta and immediately contribute to the development of Thailand's high-tech sector.”
