Delta Hosts Thailand Energy Award Board for Selection Process of Executive of Designated Factory Award

Samutprakarn, Thailand, February 23, 2021- Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. hosted a Thailand Energy Awards (TEA) Board delegation from the DEDE (Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency) under Thailand’s Ministry of Energy for an onsite assessment of Mr. Hsieh Shen-yen, Former Delta Thailand President, as a candidate for the Executive of Designated Factory award category.

Delta Thailand is under assessment for two categories of the 2020 Thailand Energy Award, which has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Thailand. As part of the selection process, the Thailand Energy Awards Board to learn more about Mr. Hsieh Shen-yen’s work and his role in driving energy saving at Delta and conduct an on-site survey of its green factory and headquarters in Bangpoo Industrial Estate.

Mr. Jackie Chang, Delta Thailand President, welcomed, Mr. Theerawat Sarintu, Chairman of the TEA Board. “I would also like to thank Mr. Hsieh for his contribution to our energy conservation journey and his support for Delta’s participation in the TEA program. Delta Thailand has set and achieved our ambitious target to reduce our energy intensity by 30% from 2015 to 2020. In fact, we did not only reach the target but also exceeding it by 5%.”

The Executive of Designated Factory award category recognizes leaders of top-performing companies in the TEA program in areas of:

  1. Vision and policy for energy conservation
  2. The role of energy conservation inside the organization
  3. The role of energy conservation outside the organization
  4. Promotion of the development of personnel in the field of energy conservation
  5. Contribution to energy conservation created by creativity

In addition to the assessment of Mr. Hsieh, the TEA delegation also conducted an onsite survey of the following sites in Delta Thailand’s Green Building Headquarters:

  • Delta Showroom: Showcase of Delta’s extensive portfolio of energy-saving products and solutions for global customers are to the public for education.
  • Cold Energy Recovery Nitrogen (CERN2): Recovery process of energy from liquid nitrogen used in the product cold testing lab.
  • HVAC System: Delta uses an energy-efficient Magnetic Bearing Oil-Free Chiller in the HVAC room and nine sets of energy-saving Split Type Air Conditioners in its meeting rooms.
  • Smart Energy Recycle System (SERS): Recycles 60-80% of the energy generated in the burn-in process of finished electronics that used to go to waste.
  • Solar Rooftop: Delta’s 3.2 MWp capacity solar rooftop system can generate up to 4,677,548 kWh in electricity per year for 100% internal use.

As a winner of the seven Thailand Energy Awards and two ASEAN Energy Awards in five years, Delta hosts the Ministry of Energy as a designated model green factory to promote energy management and renewable energy activities among Thai-based companies.
