Delta Joins UN Sustainability Goals Conference

Bangkok, Thailand, February 23, 2018- Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. attended the UN Sustainable Development Goals 7 (SDG7) Conference held at the United Nations Building, Bangkok. The event is a part of a UN High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on sustainable development started by the United Nations and the Ministry of Energy of Thailand and supported by the governments of Norway, Korea, China, and Germany. The forum seeks concrete solutions, innovations, and partnerships with stakeholders to support the UN’s SDG 7- affordable and clean energy. Ms. Aonthip Aorthong, Delta SD Senior Executive, represented Delta at a session held to discuss interlinks between affordable and clean energy and other SDG such as quality education and good health and well-being.

The forum invited Delta to join the discussion on how to leverage global corporate citizenship to fulfill the UN’s SDG7 and reduce inequality in rural and impoverished areas. At a special session, delegates from Guyana, India, Kenya Tanzania and participating NGOs addressed major issues such as policy, high costs and limited supply that make renewable energy innovations inaccessible for many. The session concluded with a pledge to foster the long-term collaboration necessary to reach the SD goal of affordable, clean energy.

In 2018, Delta commits to six UN SDGs, including affordable and clean energy, as part of its corporate sustainable development strategy and reporting. Delta engaged the UN forum to discuss concrete ways to contribute towards SDG7 including boosting job creation for income distribution in rural areas, encouraging innovative energy product adoption, continued energy innovation/R&D, added value in social and environmental aspects and raising market awareness for renewable energy solutions.
